Umpires

Brighton Baseball has hired an officiating manager for the current baseball season. This individual is responsible for the recruiting, training and supervision of our in house umpire crews. We presently use our own umpires in the MINOR league programs, including both hardball and girls softball. Our MAJOR Leagues employ the services of an outside umpire association. Our SIP and ROOKIE programs do not use umpires, emphasizing skill development over competitive situations. It is getting increasingly difficult to find outside qualified umpires as the ranks thin with the retirement of senior officials. We therefore are trying to get ahead of the curve in developing our in-house officiating program. As we go forward, it is likely that we will expand our in-house program to include our MAJOR leagues.
