SATURDAY INSTRUCTION PROGRAM (SIP)

The
objectives of this League are:
- To provide instruction to
all participants on the basics of baseball (throwing, running,
hitting, fielding, rules);
- To help the child develop skills essential
to the
game;
- To provide a pleasurable experience for the child;
- To prepare the child for advancement into the more structured
baseball and softball
leagues of Brighton Baseball, all in a non-competitive
fashion.
Rules:

- In this League all teams use a soft baseball, manufactured
by Incrediball, Inc.
- The activities shall be held on Saturday mornings,
commencing at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 10:30 a.m.
- Coaches: There shall be one coach and at least
one assistant coach. Since this is an instructional
program, parent participation is encouraged. The more
parent participation,
the more attention that can be given to each child
and the more successful the program will be.
- There shall be no practices
or sessions other than those scheduled.
- Coaches should preserve the instructional / teaching
and non-competitive philosophy of this league. Team
games may be played at the discretion of the coaches.
If either
coach chooses not to participate in an inter-team
game one shall not be played. Rookie league rules will
apply
to inter team games.
- A coach may conduct "games" within his / her team at
his / her discretion. Remember that the purpose of
the program is to teach children
the fundamentals of the game of baseball.
- There will be no score
keeping. All games end in a tie.
- During inter-team games a batting tee may be
used if in the coaches judgment it would enhance
a batterís
skill.
- Adults, only, shall be permitted between home plate
and the backstop during the activities. Under no
circumstances may a child act as a catcher or be permitted
in the area
for any purpose whatsoever.
- The philosophy and rules of Brighton Baseball will
preside:
a. Rookie League Rules, tips for practice sessions
and while playing the games should be read also.
b. Individual coaches may not change rules.
The League President must be consulted, who in turn, evaluates the merit
/ impact and confers with the Executive Committee.
Playing Fields:
Home team coaches responsible for placing
bases and picking them up at the end of the game.
Safety Rules:
Coaches will ensure that the only time
that a player will be holding or swinging a bat is when
they are: at home plate, a coach is with them and no other
players are near them.
Under no circumstances should there be a player
with a bat in his or her hands without the immediate supervision
of the coach of the team. Players should be discouraged from
bringing their own bats. |
